RAMALLAH, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians, including a teenager, were killed by Israeli army fire and 45 others arrested in the West Bank on Tuesday, Palestinian sources said.

Amjad Abu Awad, 15, was killed by Israeli army fire in the city of Ramallah, said the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Eyewitnesses told Xinhua that an Israeli sniper fired live ammunition at Abu Awad at Al-Manara Square in central Ramallah, hitting him in the chest.

The Palestinian National Liberation Movement Fatah announced in a press statement the mourning of Abu Awad's death.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli forces raided several Palestinian homes on Rukab Street in the city and the Ein Misbah neighborhood while conducting field investigations with some young men.

In Hebron, south of the West Bank, a Palestinian man died of wounds he sustained from Israeli army gunfire near the separation wall close to the town of Adh Dhahiriya, south of the city, according to Palestinian medical sources.

Palestinian security sources said that Israeli forces opened fire on 24-year-old Samer Al-Zagharneh, critically wounding him and killing him.

The sources added that Israeli authorities handed Al-Zagharneh's body over to Palestinian medical personnel, and he was later transferred to Dura Governmental Hospital.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli forces on these incidents.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Prisoners Club, a non-governmental organization, said in a press statement that the Israeli army had arrested 45 Palestinians from the West Bank since the early hours of the morning, with arrests concentrated in Ramallah, Hebron, Bethlehem, and Tulkarm.

According to the statement, the Israeli army has arrested more than 10,000 people from the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since Oct. 7, 2023.
