BOGOTA, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Striker Dayro Moreno has returned to Colombia's national squad after a nine-year absence for decisive World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Venezuela, the Colombian football federation said on Friday.

The 39-year-old, who earned the last of his 32 Colombia caps in a 2-0 win against Venezuela in September 2016, has scored 23 times in 45 games across all competitions for Once Caldas this year.

Colombia manager Nestor Lorenzo also recalled Wolverhampton defender Yerson Mosquera, who has recovered from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament that sidelined him for almost a year.

As expected, the 26-man squad includes Mosquera's Wolves teammate Jhon Arias, Leon midfielder James Rodriguez, Bayern Munich winger Luis Diaz and Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Munoz.

Colombia will meet Bolivia in Barranquilla on September 4 before completing its qualifying campaign against Venezuela in Maturin five days later.

The Cafeteros are currently sixth in the 10-team South American group and are in the midst of a six-game winless run.

The top six teams will automatically qualify for next year's World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada while the seventh-ranked side will contest an intercontinental playoff.
