TOKYO, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Trinidad and Tobago's Keshorn Walcott produced a season's best of 88.16 meters to claim gold in the men's javelin on Thursday at the World Athletics Championships.
Walcott, 32, who won Olympic gold at London 2012, made his winning throw on his fourth attempt to win his first world title.
Grenada's two-time world champion Anderson Peters had to settle for silver with 87.38m, while 86.67m saw Curtis Thompson of the United States take bronze.
A throw of 84.03m from defending champion Neeraj Chopra was only good enough for eighth overall, while reigning Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan ranked tenth with 82.75m. ■
