LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of thousands of Dodgers fans poured into downtown Los Angeles on Monday morning to celebrate the team's repeat World Series championship.
The Dodgers' victory parade lasted about 45 minutes, beginning at 11:00 a.m. local time. Despite the short duration, social media footage showed many fans arriving in the early morning hours to secure a viewing spot along the parade route.
Double-decker buses carrying Dodgers players and staff rolled slowly through the streets as ear-splitting cheers erupted from the crowds chanting "Let's Go Dodgers," while blue-and-white flags waved along the route.
Following the parade, the team - the most successful in Major League Baseball over the past decade - held an official Championship Celebration at Dodger Stadium. The venue turned into a sea of blue, with more than 50,000 fans in attendance.
The team's second World Series in a row was also its third crown in the past six years.
On Saturday, the Dodgers clinched the 2025 World Series title with a 5-4, 11-inning victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, becoming the first team in 25 years to win back-to-back championships. The New York Times described the game as "the greatest Game 7 in World Series history."
Preliminary viewership data indicated that an average of 25.98 million people tuned in across all Fox platforms, making the Dodgers-Blue Jays finale the most-watched World Series game since 2017.
During the first inning of Saturday's game, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said she was hoping for a victory that would lift the city's morale.
"I want to see 200,000 people out in the street, celebrating peacefully, having a good time," she said. "The Dodgers are part of our DNA, and the city has been on pins and needles. Given the year we've had, we can use this burst of adrenaline, this burst of good will." ■
