GAZA, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Three Palestinians were killed on Thursday in an Israeli airstrike targeting an animal-drawn cart in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood, south of Gaza City, according to Palestinian sources.
Local sources and eyewitnesses said that an Israeli drone fired a missile at the cart, causing multiple casualties.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, told Xinhua that medical teams recovered three bodies and transported several injured people to nearby hospitals.
The Israeli military has not yet commented on the incident.
The strike comes amid ongoing tensions in the Gaza Strip despite a fragile ceasefire. Disputes remain over the implementation of the deal, particularly regarding humanitarian aid delivery and military withdrawal.
Earlier on Thursday, Gaza-based health authorities said that hospitals across the enclave had received the bodies of two Palestinians and eight others wounded over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, to 824, with 2,316 others injured. The total number of Palestinians killed since the outbreak of the conflict on Oct. 7, 2023, has risen to 72,601, with 172,419 wounded. ■
