TUNIS, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian security forces have thwarted an international drug trafficking attempt through the port of La Goulette in the capital Tunis, seizing a large quantity of narcotics, according to a statement released late Saturday by the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of 370,000 ecstasy tablets and 12 kg of cocaine, concealed in a car arriving from "a European country" aboard a Tunisian Navigation Company ferry, said the statement.
During the operation, authorities also seized a substantial amount of money, 13 vehicles, and a motorcycle. A total of 14 suspects were apprehended, and search warrants have been issued for 15 individuals who remain at large.
The case has been referred to relevant security services for further investigation, the statement added, without specifying the timing of the operation or revealing the identity of the suspects. ■
