HANOI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam exported nearly 5.9 million tons of rice worth more than 3 billion U.S. dollars from the beginning of this year to Aug. 15, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday, citing the Vietnam Food Association.
The export volume rose 2.88 percent year on year, while the export value dropped 16 percent compared with the same period in 2024.
Last week, Vietnam's rice export prices reached their highest level in eight months amid tightening supplies.
The association forecast that Vietnam will export more than 8 million tons of rice this year, local daily Nhan Dan reported. ■
