HANOI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- A public investment of over 1,450 billion Vietnamese dong (about 55.5 million U.S. dollars) has been proposed to build a national intelligent transportation system management center in Vietnam, the local media VNEconomy reported Wednesday.

The system is expected to integrate real-time data from expressways, national roads, and local roads, applying advanced technologies to improve traffic forecasting, emergency response, and centralized traffic management nationwide.

The management center initially focuses on monitoring expressways and developing intelligent transport applications such as virtual driving assistants and real-time route guidance, contributing to long-term goals of sustainable transport and congestion reduction, the report said.

According to the Department for Roads of Vietnam, the country has put 2,268 km of expressways into operation and aims to reach 3,000 km by 2025 and 5,000 km by 2030.
