HANOI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam witnessed a sustained expansion of manufacturing production in August, marking the fourth consecutive month of growth, according to a report released Wednesday by S&P Global.

The country's manufacturing production continued to increase in August, but at a slower pace amid a subdued demand environment, noted the S&P Global Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) report.

According to the report, the PMI fell from 52.4 in July to 50.4 in August, but remained above the 50.0 no change mark, signaling a second consecutive monthly improvement in the health of the manufacturing sector.

Andrew Harker, economics director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said that, with the path ahead for tariffs seeming more stable now, the predicted improvements in demand are expected to materialize in the months ahead, helping to maintain production growth in the sector.
