JAKARTA, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government will finance 794 research proposals worth 177 billion rupiah (around 11 million U.S. dollars) in 2025, aiming to accelerate the downstreaming of research results in key sectors such as electronics, digital technology, food, and plantation-based agriculture.

"Many innovations stop in the laboratory because they don't find their way to the market. In the process of downstreaming research results, we need collaborative activities involving experts across disciplines," Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto said on Thursday.

The program is designed to foster an integrated innovation ecosystem by encouraging collaboration among the government, universities, and industry, ensuring that research outcomes bring greater benefits to society.

Brian emphasized that the initiative aligns with the national agenda to advance downstreaming and industrialization, generate jobs, and increase domestic value-added.

The program involves 151 universities and 420 industry partners, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing Indonesia's global competitiveness.
