ULAN BATOR, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- At least one person has been killed in the eastern Mongolian province of Dornod due to heavy snow and snowstorms, the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Friday.
"Rescuers found the body of one person who was lost in heavy snowstorm in Bayan-Uul soum (administrative subdivision) of Dornod province on Friday morning," the NEMA said in a statement.
Since Thursday evening, snow and blizzards have been hitting large parts of Mongolia, causing poor visibility on roads.
Snow and blizzards are expected to continue in the central and eastern regions in the coming days. Local authorities urged the public, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters. ■
