India's forex reserves decline further to nearly 690 bln USD

NEW DELHI, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves decreased by 5.623 billion U.S. dollars to 689.733 billion dollars during the week ended on Oct. 31, showed the latest weekly data released by the country's central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on Friday.

This was the second consecutive week when the forex reserves had declined. In the preceding week, forex reserves had dipped by 6.925 billion dollars.

The RBI data revealed that the Foreign Currency Assets (FCAs), a considerable part of forex reserves, decreased by 1.957 billion dollars to 564.591 billion dollars, while the Gold Reserves declined by 3.81 billion dollars to 101.726 billion dollars.

According to the central bank, the Special Drawing Rights decreased by 19 million dollars to 18.644 billion dollars, but the country's Reserves Position in the International Monetary Fund improved by 164 million dollars to 4.772 billion dollars.
