DHAKA, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's exports plunged 18.07 percent year-on-year in March to 3.48 billion U.S. dollars, according to the latest government data.
During the first three quarters of the 2025-26 financial year (July 2025 to June 2026), exports fell by 4.85 percent to 35.39 billion dollars, data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) under the Ministry of Commerce showed.
The export slowdown was primarily driven by a poor performance in the vital garment industry.
Bangladesh earned 28.58 billion dollars from exports of the ready-made garment in the July-March period, compared to 30.25 billion dollars a year earlier.
Bangladesh has set its export target in the 2025-26 fiscal year at 55 billion dollars, including nearly 45 billion dollars from ready-made garment products. ■
