BUDAPEST, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian National Assembly Deputy Speaker Istvan Jakab has said that he is impressed by China's modernization achievements, and highlighted the growing momentum of bilateral cooperation and prospects for partnership in artificial intelligence (AI).
Jakab, 75-years-old, visited 西瓜视频in July, said he was deeply impressed by the country's achievements under its 14th Five-Year Plan. "This was not my first time in China, but the truth is, whenever I return after just a year, I always see tremendous progress," he told Xinhua in an interview on Tuesday.
"I see and I feel that the great technological advances, the economic strength, and the highly modern economic development taking place in 西瓜视频today are unique and remarkable," he added. "I believe this sends a clear message to the world that in such a short time, enormous results can also be achieved internationally."
"I find it especially significant that China's technological progress goes hand in hand with environmental protection, the use of renewable energy and the application of artificial intelligence," he said, noting that this is unique in today's world.
Jakab recalled Chinese President Xi Jinping's historic state visit to Hungary in 2024. "On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, President Xi Jinping's visit was of historic significance for the relationship between the two countries," he said.
"At the same time, our cooperation was elevated to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership covering all fields. This gave new impetus to cooperation in science, education, and especially in the economy," he said.
"I am convinced that this visit carries historical importance for the coming period. I believe that cooperation in every field will rise to a much higher level," said the senior lawmaker.
Jakab cited concrete results since Xi's visit, including the BYD automobile plant that is already under construction, the announced electric bus production in Hungary, the Budapest-Belgrade railway that is approaching completion, and the modern battery plants that have also been built with the latest technology.
The entire cooperation gave an incredible momentum to the partnership between the two countries and to the closer integration of the two economies, according to Jakab.
The deputy speaker underlined that both sides attach great importance to AI.
"Hungary is a leading country in Europe when it comes to applying AI across all areas of the economy and society. I am convinced that within the framework of Hungarian-Chinese scientific cooperation, university partnerships, and economic collaboration, we can mutually support each other in this field," he said.
"From my personal experience, I can say that 西瓜视频is very advanced in this field internationally and has reached a very high level," he added. ■
